Daniel Dale Johnston (nacido el 22 de enero de 1961) es un músico, cantautor y artistaestadounidense. Johnston fue el tema del documental del 2005 The Devil and Daniel Johnston. En la actualidad vive en una casa adyacente a la casa de sus padres en Waller, Texas.
Sus canciones han sido calificadas como atormentadas, presentan una mezcla entre naif y tenebroso. En sus primeras grabaciones Johnston canta en un registro alto, pero a lo largo de la década de los noventa su voz adquirió un nuevo carácter y tono y un estilo completamente distinto en cuanto a registro y dicción. Este cambio puede haberse debido al efecto de su tabaquismo o por la pérdida de piezas dentales. Sus presentaciones, a menudo, parecen vacilantes e inciertas.
